Finding What You Need

I personally believe that the Universe drops breadcrumbs for us to follow; it is up to us to be aware enough to notice them scattered ahead of us.  A similar phenomenon happens when we set an intention for ourselves, whether to purchase a new piece of clothing or start a new routine in our lives.  Suddenly we can't escape reminders or examples of that very thing.  A simple way to experiment with this would be to set an intention to look for heart-shaped objects in your day-to-day life for the next week or so.  I guarantee that before long you will start to see rocks, leaves, and other non-descript items appearing before you all in that familiar shape.

Why does this happen and how can we conjure more of this magic?  Setting intentions and becoming more aware of the present moment would be good places to start.  When we are clear with our direction, intentions, and needs we open ourselves up to discovering the tools and resources we require.  Similar to when we reach out for help and are open to receiving it, we actually get more than we need - connections, opportunities, new directions.  All of these treasures are presented to us continually - it is up to us to be open to noticing and taking them into our orbit.

More than just setting an intention, we also need to believe in ourselves and our ability to reach the goals or objectives we are creating.  It is one thing to set a goal because it looks good on paper, or because we believe that it is what we should be working towards.  It is another thing altogether to actually believe with our heart and soul that the intentions we are setting are meant for us and us alone.

Being able to determine what those intentions are is hard.  I have often been waylaid by this because I try to set an intention wrapped in a neat and tidy plan that will play out a certain way by a certain time and will look a certain way.  My work has been in dismantling this outdated vision of what an intention is and bringing it back down to a more pure form.  My intentions are simply that - what I intend to work towards.  I have no clear idea what the end result of pursuing these intentions might be, and the intentions themselves will most likely evolve as time passes.  One thing that remains constant is the need to remind myself to stay fluid with the process, allowing my future vision to be focused but with a wide lens so I can notice those breadcrumbs as I stumble across them.
